Steve Ross

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce that singer/pianist Steve Ross will perform a new show called “An American In Paris” on the Birdland stage. In this new concert, long-time Francophile Steve Ross celebrates the beautiful city of Paris. Featured will be songs by American writers including Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Yip Harburg, Oscar Hammerstein II, Jerome Kern, Jerry Herman and Irving Berlin.

Daniel LeClaire at the Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is proud to announce that singer Daniel LeClaire will make his NYC solo debut. He will be accompanied by a band, which will include Mike Underwood (drums) Ron Bryant (piano) Steve Doyle (bass) Julio Reyes (Saxophone) and other special guests.

Benny Benack III Italian Quartet at the Birdland Theater

Trumpeter/Vocalist Benny Benack III welcomes his Italian brothers to NYC, celebrating the release of their first album together, "Kiss Me Slowly". As an Italian-American, Benack dives into his heritage with this fiery quartet, performing both his original music, as well as timeless classics from the Italian American Songbook such as Volaré and Éstate.

Dee Dee Bridgewater with the Theo Croker Quintet

For these special performances, Bridgewater performs music closely associated with Josephine Baker as well as the popular French chanson singers of the era including Edith Piaf and Charles Trenet—music she released as an homage to Baker as well as her adopted home country of France on her 2005 album, J’ai deux Amours, named for the song Baker made her own. In 2008 Dee Dee was the recipient of the prestigious French Award the Commandeur Dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and just this past year received the Officier Dans Legion d'Honneur.

Susie Mosher at the Birdland Theater

The Lineup with Susie Mosher is a wild, anything-goes variety show featuring entertainers from the Broadway, cabaret and comedy scenes. Actress/singer Mosher hosts the spontaneous extravaganza at 9:30pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month starting July 24.

Anita Gillette at the Birdland Theater

The Birdland Theater is proud to announce that Broadway/Television actress Anita Gillette will perform a loving tribute to her friend Irving Berlin on the stage. The evening is directed by Barry Kleinbort, with musical direction by Paul Greenwood at the piano, Ritt Henn on bass, Dan Gross on drums, and special guest David L. Harris on trombone. "Me and Mr. B" offers a first-hand accounting of both the man who provided America with some of its most enduring songs and a young, up-and-coming Broadway musical star who got to be a part of that journey.

Jay Leonhart

Combining the skills of an old school entertainer and virtuoso jazz man, bassist, vocalist and composer Jay Leonhart has been a fixture of the New York scene for over forty years. Joining Jay on bass are Kenny Ascher on piano and Vito Lesczak on drums.

Marcello Pellitteri in A Benefit for the Veronica Pellitteri Memorial Fund

Marcello Pellitteri will perform a benefit concert for the Veronica Pellitteri Memorial Fund. Appearing with Marcello will be an All Star Band with Bruce Barth on piano, Essiet Okon Essiet on bass and special guests Joe Lovano on sax and Judi Silvano on vocals.

Brian Newman & the New Alchemy Jazz Orchestra

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce that singer/trumpet player Brian Newman will team with the New Alchemy Jazz Orchestra for an evening of big band sounds with some of best musicians New York City offers. Performing originals, jazz standards and classics from the Great American Songbook, this 18-piece band will take you for a ride through an eclectic mix of composers and sounds from the past and present and future of jazz music.

Randy Roberts LIVE! at the Birdland Theater

Randy Roberts, female impersonator extraordinaire, brings his one-man show, featuring live singing, to New York City for the first time. He has taken the show from Vegas to San Juan; from Madrid to Honolulu; from Provincetown to Key West and all points in between! This will be evening of bang-on impressions of Cher, Bette Midler and other favorites, gorgeous costumes, hilarious humor and live vocals that never fail to thrill.

Kevin Eubanks Quartet

For nearly two decades the world knew where to find the acclaimed guitarist Kevin Eubanks. Five nights a week, Eubanks was cranking up the band and issuing steamy solos as music director on NBC’s Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The Kevin Eubanks Quartet includes Nicholas Payton (trumpet), Terri Lyne Carrington (drums) and Ben Williams (bass).

"Laurel Canyon" A Tribute to Crosby, Stills, Nash Young at the Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is proud to announce that hit songwriters Mark Hudson, Gary Burr and Mark Mirando will be performing “Laurel Canyon,” their tribute to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Laurel Canyon is an acoustic tribute to the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, featuring recreations of their seminal works as well as songs from their early bands and solo years. Laurel Canyon is a trio consisting of Grammy Award winning writer/producer Mark Hudson, Hall of Fame Songwriter Gary Burr, and singer songwriter Mark Mirando.

Alan Broadbent Trio at the Birdland Theater

New Zealand native, pianist Alan Broadbent, was a student of jazz guru Lennie Tristano when he received a 1966 Downbeat Magazine scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston. The Alan Broadbent Trio includes Alan Broadbent (piano), Harvie S (bass) and Billy Mintz (drums).

Ken Peplowski with Special Guest Sinne Eeg

Ken Peplowski has recorded approximately 50 CDs as a soloist, and close to 400 as a sideman – some of the artists he’s performed/recorded with include Charlie Byrd, Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney, Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops, Hank Jones, Peggy Lee, Bill Charlap, Woody Allen, Benny Goodman, and Madonna. Sinne Eeg’s distinctive vocals and original compositions have earned her a loyal and rapidly growing fan base in her native country of Denmark and around the world. Considered the preeminent jazz vocalist in Scandinavia, Sinne has also made her mark in Japan, China, and throughout Europe with her exquisite live performances and award-winning studio recordings.

Thana Alexa

On her new album "ONA", Thana explores the feminine and the role women play in our world - a role that makes female influence and strength undeniable, but one that is more often than not overlooked and undervalued. Her music expresses the obligation she feels to make a relevant statement about the times in which we live. The album integrates elements of jazz with soul, electronica, pop and world music to convey a message of strength, female empowerment, and the need to be the change we want to see in the world.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is pleased to announce that hostess/producer Jamie deRoy will be bringing her multi-MAC Award-winning Variety Show, Jamie deRoy & friends, back to Birdland. Proceeds from the evening will benefit The Actors Fund: Jamie deRoy & friends Cabaret Initiative. Special guests at Jamie deRoy & friends will be Allison Blackwell (Pretty Woman), Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford (I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking It On The Road), Donnie Kehr (Jersey Boys), Joan Ryan (Ruthless), and Steven Scott (Comedy Central). Birdland Theater is proud to announce another “Uke Night,” a Broadway celebration of the ukulele! Hosted by Broadway singer/dancer/actor/director Jeffry Denman, this “Uke Night” will star some of Broadway’s most talented performers. In past shows, the ukulele has been played and celebrated by theater favorites including Marc Kudisch, The Skivvies, Luke Hawkins, Hannah Elless, Jason Poole, Nancy Anderson, and Clarke Thorell, among others.

Pasquale Grasso Trio

One of the most strikingly unique artists of his generation, Pasquale Grasso has undoubtedly changed the way the world views jazz guitar. Born in Ariano Irpino, Pasquale began playing guitar at a very young age. By the summer of 1997, his parents, who recognized the depth of their young son’s talent, sought out the instruction of jazz innovator, Agostino Di Giorgio. A former pupil of Chuck Wayne, Di Giorgio immediately took interest in Pasquale, whose prodigious aptitude for the instrument flourished as the young guitarist quickly became his closest pupil. From that point, it wouldn’t be long before news of this talent spread. Barry Harris, the world-renowned jazz educator and bebop piano master, became an extraordinary influence when Pasquale attended his jazz workshop in Switzerland during the summer of 1998. Eric Comstock

Hailed as "the truest heir to Bobby Short" in The New York Times, pianist/singer Eric Comstock returns to Birdland with star bassist/composer Sean Smith with songs by everyone from George Gershwin to George Harrison. These two masters met on the Off-Broadway hit OUR SINATRA (which Eric co-wrote), and have since worked separately and together around the world. Joining them at Birdland for a summer Saturday supper is a party where the music and stories are equally great.

Adam Larson

Originally from Normal, IL, saxophonist-composer Adam Larson, endorsed artist for P. Mauriat saxophones and Vandoren reeds, mouthpieces and ligatures, began playing saxophone at the age of 11. As a high school student, Larson was a member of virtually every national program dedicated to showcasing excellence in young jazz talent including The Grammy Band, Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, Betty Carter Jazz Ahead, YoungArts Jazz Fellows, Telluride Student All-Stars, Jazz Band of America and many others.

Barb Jungr and John McDaniel “1968 – Let The Sunshine In”

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce that Barb Jungr and John McDaniel will return to the stage. In what must be considered one of the finest and most empathetic piano duos in jazz history, Renee Rosnes and Bill Charlap, husband and wife, joined forces to record their first collaborative album, Double Portrait, for Blue Note Records in 2010. The sparkling set of four-hand piano duets traversed many of the couple’s musical touchstones, forming a high point in their respective careers. Here to Stay - 2 Pianos 2 Voices at the Birdland Theater

Here To Stay features two of the most outstanding pianist/vocalists of today: Champian Fulton and John Proulx, in a two piano/vocal tribute to this most popular of Great American Songwriters. The 80-minute revue explores the George Gershwin catalogue, taking all of the composer’s most familiar standards and interspersing them with some lesser known songs, concert works, and even Porgy And Bess. There will be many two-piano, four-handed spectacular numbers, some just piano and some sung, as well as individual features for the two artists. The great Gershwin songs will be played and sung with warmth, humor and wit, along with interesting anecdotes relevant to the music, as interpreted by these two outstanding musicians.

Alex Frondelli Quartet

Alex Frondelli is a 22 year old guitarist, drummer and educator. He began playing guitar at the age of ten and began to pursue music seriously in high school once joining marching band. Under the direction of music educator Bill Katz and world class guitar teacher Steve Salerno, he grew to love Jazz music and made it his main focus. The Alex Frondelli Quartet includes Alex on guitar with Mikey Migliore (bass), Jason Wastor (drums) and Sam Towse (piano).

Capathia Jenkins & Louis Rosen "PHENOMENAL WOMAN: The Maya Angelou Songs" at the Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is proud to announce that vocalist Capathia Jenkins and Award-winning composer/arranger Louis Rosen will return to Birdland to launch their new recording, “PHENOMENAL WOMAN: The Maya Angelou Songs” (Di-tone Records), a freshly imagined version of the critically acclaimed song cycle composed and arranged by Louis specifically for Capathia, with lyrics by the iconic American poet, Maya Angelou. To perform these jazzy, soul-infused, classically tinged compositions, the Jenkins/Rosen collaboration is joined by a terrific New York sextet including pianist Kimberly Grigsby; CJ Camerieri on trumpet and French horn; Hideaki Aomori on alto & tenor saxophones, flute and clarinet; Andy Blanco on vibraphone; Dave Phillips on acoustic and electric bass; and Gary Seligson on drums.

Seventeen musicians will perform selections from the Resonance jazz catalog. Headlining will be the world's greatest jazz clarinet player, Eddie Daniels, performing selections from his latest Resonance Records release "The Heart of Brazil - The Music of Egberto Gismonti" with the renowned Harlem String Quartet; Rising Star Jazz Violinist Christian Howes; and Brazilian jazz great, trumpeter Claudio Roditi. Vocalists Polly Gibbons and Aubrey Logan will sing selections from their Resonance recordings. The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra

Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and educator Arturo O'Farrill -- leader of the "first family of Afro-Cuban Jazz" (NY Times) -- was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City. Son of the late, great composer Chico O'Farrill, Arturo was Educated at Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College.
