ESL and BY EXPERIENCE form partnership

for first-ever eSports Series to debut in CINEMAS

WORLDWIDE THIS JULY

Series kicks off with world premiere of “ALL WORK ALL PLAY”, an esports documentary from acclaimed filmmaker Patrick Creadon profiling the Intel® Extreme Masters tour.

Premiere will be immediately followed by a live esports extravaganza direct from ESL studios in US and Germany to cinemas globally.

(New York, NY) March 17, 2015 - ESL, the world’s largest esports company, and BY Experience, the global leader in live cinema content, announce their partnership to develop, create and distribute a series of live global esports events curated specifically for cinema audiences. The exclusive series, ESPORTS IN CINEMA, will include live broadcasts of a variety of gaming events, with the addition of specially produced content for cinema screens that will take fans into the innermost workings of the esports world.

The first event in the ESPORTS IN CINEMA series is "ALL WORK ALL PLAY: The Pursuit of eSports Glory LIVE", a documentary feature on ESL’s elite pro gaming tour, the Intel® Extreme Masters. Immediately following the film will be a live esports spectacle, including live gaming with top players, guest appearances by famous esports personalities, a Q&A in front of a live studio audience, and other exclusive content designed for gaming enthusiasts. The documentary, by filmmaking team Christine O'Malley and Patrick Creadon, features top players and esports personalities, and offers a never-before-seen look at the world's fastest growing sport. Featured prominently is a behind-the-scenes look at the planning and production of Intel® Extreme Masters, the longest running global pro gaming tour in the world. The documentary will be premiered from the ESL Burbank studio (CA, USA) on Thursday, July 23rd for North American and Latin American cinema audiences and from the ESL Cologne studio on Tuesday, July 28th (NRW, Germany) for European and Asian cinema audiences.

“I think this documentary and the broader partnership is symbolic of how far we’ve come,” said Ralf Reichert, Managing Director of ESL. “When we started out, I dreamt about us filling stadiums, but I never entertained the idea of filling cinemas. Everyone who works with Intel Extreme Masters here at ESL is passionate about esports and I think this documentary and the development of esports series programming in cinemas is a testament to that growth. I’m very excited to see esports in cinemas for years to come and can guarantee I’ll be the first to buy a ticket.”

The ESPORTS IN CINEMA series will continue with ESL One Cologne 2015 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event broadcast from Cologne, Germany in August. An additional three to four gaming events under the ESL/BY Experience partnership will be announced by July 1. Each will feature original programming centered on the biggest celebrity gamers, top esports teams, lead players throughout the world, celebrated esports commentators, and legendary Hall of Famers.

“BY Experience is honored to partner with ESL to create unique live events for cinema audiences globally, starting with the spotlight on the Intel Extreme Masters through ‘ALL WORK ALL PLAY’,” said Julie Borchard-Young, Co-President of BY Experience. “The in cinema broadcasts will afford esports fans an unprecedented opportunity to get together in their communities to enjoy several high-profile events throughout the year, as part of a global shared experience. Cinemas provide the optimal setting for spectators to watch their favorite players and teams compete across an array of gaming titles, broadcast live on a 70 foot cinema screen in surround sound.”
