Bonnie Milligan

The Broadway at Birdland concert series is proud to announce that newest Broadway sensation Bonnie Milligan will be making her solo debut. Bonnie Milligan, who opened to rave reviews in her Broadway debut in Head Over Heels will bring her impeccable comic timing and the most talked about belt in the city to blow the roof off of the iconic music room.

Jim Caruso’s Cast Party

Jim Caruso’s Cast Party is a wildly popular weekly soiree that brings a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night. It’s a cool cabaret night-out enlivened by a hilariously impromptu variety show. Showbiz superstars, backed by Steve Doyle on bass, Billy Stritch on piano and Daniel Glass on drums, hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle.

Rex Reed at the Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is proud to announce that film/theater critic Rex Reed will be holding court on the new stage. Rex Reed is perhaps best known as a film and theater critic, but people who know him are well aware of his first love--classic songs from the Great American Song Book, the men who wrote them, and the stars who played and sang them first. Yes, he sings, too!

Curtis Stigers

Discovered by legendary record executive Clive Davis, Curtis Stigers debut album sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide on the strength of self-penned hit singles like “I Wonder Why,” “You’re All That Matters to Me,” and “Never Saw a Miracle.” A year later, Stigers cover of Nick Lowe’s “(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace Love and Understanding” for The Bodyguard Soundtrack sold over 40 million copies worldwide. Inspired by the noble jazz pioneers Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton and their colleagues, David Ostwald's Louis Armstrong Eternity Band breathes life and passion into America’s own great art form. Now in its 14th year of residency at Birdland, the weekly post-workday engagement is the city’s best musical bargain! Tuba player David Ostwald leads a rotating lineup that features talents such as clarinetist Anat Cohen, trombonist/vocalist Wycliffe Gordon, pianist Ehud Asherie, drummer Marion Felder and more!

David and the Bombshells at the Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is proud to announce the return of David & The Bombshells (Tiffany Dissette, Heather Lundstedt O'Neill and Leah Sprecher and their trusty band leader/arranger David Lamoureux) by popular demand! They were created in 2016 by three ladies and one fella looking to bring the musicality, sentiments and novelty of vintage female trio acts to modern audiences today. By blending Top 40 hits with the tight harmonies made famous by the Andrews Sisters, they bridge the gap between old and new, bringing joy to both young and more seasoned audiences. All of their arrangements are completely original and present songs you've heard a million times on the radio in a brand new way.

Sharon McNight at the Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is proud to announce that cabaret singer Sharon McNight will bring her brand new show, “Gone, But Not Forgotten,” saluting the late, legendary Ladies of Song, including Madeline Kahn, Pearl Bailey, Patsy Cline, Judy Garland, and Ethel Merman. Each legend, as well as their signature songs and colorful back stories, will be celebrated by the inimitable Ms. McNight. James “Jim Bob” Followell will act as Musical Director.

Joe Alterman

A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Joe Alterman studied music at New York University, where he received both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Jazz Piano Performance. In addition to performances with Houston Person, Les McCann and his own trio, among others, Alterman has performed at many world renowned venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Birdland and New York's Blue Note, where Alterman has opened, many times, for Ramsey Lewis. Only 29 years old, Alterman has released four critically-acclaimed albums, his most recent being 2017's "Comin' Home To You.”

Founded by drummer and musical director Tommy Igoe, the Birdland Big Band features the finest musicians in New York! Eric Comstock

Singer/pianist Eric Comstock has been called "a song's best friend," and the jazz and pop songbooks are in great hands when he is onstage at Birdland. Whether the song is by Rodgers and Hart or Ellington and Strayhorn, Paul Simon or Bob Dylan, you'll hear the lyric as if for the first time. Joining Eric will be eminent bassist/composer Sean Smith -- in all, a perfect winter Saturday supper!

Mari Koga

Japanese born New York vocalist Mari Koga sings "Jazz with a Latin Flavor." She began singing pop songs as a teenager until she discovered herself as a jazz singer in her 20's. Mari released a new album, "PERFECT BLUE" in 2015, containing her unique arrangements of jazz standards and Afro-Latin influenced original songs. Audiences have been delighted by her unique repertoire, which ranges from jazz to danceable salsa to romantic bolero, and by her throaty horn-like improvisational scatting style.

The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra

Grammy Award winning pianist, composer and educator Arturo O'Farrill -- leader of the "first family of Afro-Cuban Jazz" (NY Times) -- was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City. Son of the late, great composer Chico O'Farrill, Arturo was Educated at Manhattan School of Music, Brooklyn College Conservatory and the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. He played piano in Carla Bley's Big Band from 1979 through 1983 and earned a reputation as a soloist in groups led by Dizzy Gillespie, Steve Turre, Freddy Cole, Lester Bowie, Wynton Marsalis and Harry Belafonte.

Pharoah Sanders

Pharoah Sanders possesses one of the most distinctive tenor saxophone sounds in jazz. Harmonically rich and heavy with overtones, Sanders’ sound can be as raw and abrasive as it is possible for a saxophonist to produce. Yet, Sanders is highly regarded to the point of reverence by a great many jazz fans. Although he made his name with expressionistic, nearly anarchic free jazz in John Coltrane’s late ensembles of the mid-’60s, Sanders’ later music is guided by more graceful concerns.

Susie Mosher at the Birdland Theater

The Lineup with Susie Mosher is a wild, anything-goes variety show featuring entertainers from the Broadway, cabaret and comedy scenes. Actress/singer Mosher hosts the spontaneous extravaganza at 9:30pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month.

The Jive Aces at the Birdland Theater

David DeJesus

Saxophonist David DeJesus has been on the New York City Jazz scene since the late 90’s and has established himself as a key player in numerous bands in various genres. In Jazz, David has performed with the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band, the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Stars, and Jimmy Heath’s Big Band along with many others. In Latin Jazz and Salsa, David has shared the stage with Ruben Blades, Larry Harlow, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Artro O'Farrill and Tito Rodriguez Jr. Currently, David is the leader of the Birdland Big Band, a member of the Grammy nominated Bobby Sanabria Big Band, and the Legendary Ron Carter’s Great Big Band.

Natalie Douglas "A Very Natalie Holiday" at the Birdland Theater

Birdland Theater is thrilled to announce that singer Natalie Douglas will be bringing musical holiday cheer to the stage. After her smash “Tributes” residency upstairs, New York notable Natalie Douglas brings a brand new holiday show to the Birdland Theater stage. Celebrating all things winter and wonderful, “A Very Natalie Holiday” will include everything from Christmas classics to more contemporary takes on the season, including Natalie’s singular interpretations of “Children Go Where I Send You,” “O Holy Night,” “Merry Christmas Darling,” and “It Wasn’t His Child.”

Eyal Vilner Big Band Hanukkah Album Release

Eyal Vilner emerges as one of the leading new voices in the New York big band scene. After performing at many of New York’s landmarks and top jazz festivals in Israel, The Eyal Vilner Big Band makes it’s debut performance at Birdland with a special holidays show celebrating their latest release – Hanukkah. The album presents a new and original way to celebrate the beautiful repertoire of traditional Hanukkah songs, blending holiday melodies with sounds influenced by jazz and swing, Israeli, Jewish and Middle Eastern music, in addition to Brazilian Choro and Afro-Cuban rhythms.

Noah Wilker's One Crazy Night at the Birdland Theater

Singer/songwriter Noah Wilker returns to New York City after a five year hiatus for a one night only special Chanukah show, benefiting a place very close to his heart. Camp Tel Yehudah has been a second home to Noah for the past twenty-five years and he looks forward to reconnecting with the people he has met over those great summers. All proceeds from this very special evening will be donated to the Tel Yehudah scholarship fund and will help more teens experience this amazing community in 2019.

Named for alto saxophonist and jazz pioneer Charlie "Bird" Parker who dubbed it "The Jazz Corner of the World," Birdland opened on December 15th 1949. For 60 years it has been home to jazz legends, from Parker, John Coltrane Duke Ellington and Count Basie to Oscar Peterson, Hank Jones, Diana Krall and everyone in between.
