(September 14, 2018 - New York, NY) Performances begin tonight for BEDLAM’s (Eric Tucker, Artistic Director; Kimberly Pau Boston, Managing Director) new production of UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET. This new production of UNCLE VANYA and ROMEO AND JULIET, at the same time, will kick off Bedlam’s 2018/2019 season. UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET officially opens Off-Broadway on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Mezzanine Theatre at the A.R.T./New York Theatres (502 W 53rd Street) for a limited 7-week run through Sunday, October 28, 2018. UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET pairs William Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy of two star-crossed lovers with Anton Chekov’s legendary play about a celebrated professor and his new wife’s return to their family estate. With a new adaptation of UNCLE VANYA by Kimberly Pau, interspersed with ROMEO & JULIET’s Shakespearean verse, UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET will use 5 actors to weave together both stories, exploring how hidden passions can explode with the perspective of time.

Both plays showcase characters experiencing longing for love at different times in their lives. In Uncle Vanya they are looking back saying how did I get here? In Romeo & Juliet they are looking forward saying how can I get there? By watching these epic classics side-by-side within the same sitting in UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET, the audience can follow the doubling actors on a journey through a landscape where both worlds intersect revealing the characters varying experiences of love, loss and longing at various milestones in their lives." – Eric Tucker
The playing schedule for BEDLAM’s UNCLE ROMEO VANYA JULIET is: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7pm, and Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.

BEDLAM’s past critically-acclaimed productions are enjoying runs across the country. A tour of Hamlet/Saint Joan recently played Los Angeles and Boston, and a production of Saint Joan will play The Folger Theatre in Washington D.C. in May and June of 2018.
